UPDATE: Police release more details about stabbing suspect

Sarnia police have released more details about a suspect arrested in an early morning stabbing.

Officers were called to an apartment building on Euphemia Street, near Davis Street, Tuesday morning.

Police said two men, who were known to each other, were involved in an altercation resulting in one allegedly stabbing the other in the leg. The victim received emergency medical treatment from responding officers and Lambton EMS. He was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition.

Joshawa McManus, 34, of Sarnia, was arrested.

He was being held pending a bail hearing on charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and breach of probation.

Police said McManus was under a probation order that required he not possess any weapon designed or intended to be used to cause death or injury to a person. Members of the public may notice an increased police presence in the area, but there are no outstanding suspects or ongoing threats to public safety.
