Construction activity slowed down in Sarnia in August, following an unusually strong July.
There were 52 building permits issued at Sarnia City Hall last month with a total estimated construction value over $5.1 million.
That brings the year-to-date total to over $117.9 million.
The two largest permits, issued for the courthouse at 700 Christina Street North, totalled just over $1.5 million.
Work will be done to remove and replace the existing sanitary services, and the fire alarm system.
Permits for two single family homes were issued in August, bringing the year-to-date total to 16.
In July, the city issued 64 building permits worth over $74.4 million.
That was boosted by a $35 million permit issued to Steeves and Rozema for redevelopment of the Michigan Avenue site currently occupied by Trillium Villa, and $16.4 million for renovations at Rosedale Public School.
