A dump truck driver is accused of impaired driving after the truck slammed into a hydro pole late Tuesday morning.
It happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Scott Road near St. Andrew Street.
Police said the truck was travelling northbound on Scott Road when the driver failed to navigate a turn and hit the ditch. Several attempts to reverse out of the ditch were not successful.
When officers arrived on scene it's alleged the driver was displaying signs of impairment and was placed under arrest. Police said during a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located a cooler containing alcohol.
Breath samples taken at Sarnia Police Headquarters indicated the driver was over four times the legal limit.
A 33-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with impaired driving.
His licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for a week.
