East Street robbery suspect arrested

An armed robbery suspect in Sarnia was picked up by police in Corunna.

Sarnia police said Kevin Racette was arrested by members of Ontario Provincial Police Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad in Corunna on an outstanding warrant.

He has since been transferred to city police custody and was held pending a court appearance.

The 34-year-old is accused of armed robbery and assault, as well as several other charges, in an incident on September 29.

City police responded to the area of East Street and Wellington Street for reports of a dispute between two men that turned violent, resulting in one man being shot in the face and neck with a pellet gun.

An initial search of the area for the suspect was unsuccessful.
