Bylaw officer assaulted on the job

A bylaw officer was allegedly assaulted while doing their job at Rainbow Park.

Sarnia police say at around 9 a.m. Wednesday, bylaw officers and Winmar were at the Christina Street park to mend the fencing along the rail line.

Police said to complete the repairs, some items needed to be moved out of the way.

It's alleged that while bylaw officers were working, one person took exception to them being there, became disruptive and moved the cleared property back along the fence.

Police said during the interaction, the accused became agitated and shoved one of the officers.

A 39-year-old Sarnia woman was arrested and charged with assault.

She was released on an undertaking with conditions not to attend that site.

The bylaw officer was not injured.
