The cause of a weekend fire in Sarnia is still under investigation.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Peter Aalbers said Sarnia Fire Rescue was called to a home on Davis Street shortly after noon on Saturday for reports of a structure fire.
"When they arrived there was flames coming from the second floor window," said Aalbers.
All of the occupants were outside of the rental home, but Sarnia Fire Rescue in a post to social media said one remained unaccounted for.
A man in his mid 30s was later found in the backyard and treated on scene for smoke inhalation and burn injuries before being taken to Bluewater Health.
Aalbers told Sarnia News Today they have limited information about the victim, but that he was in stable condition.
"The fire was in the second floor bedroom area, damage extends out beyond the bedroom but mostly on the second floor," said Aalbers.
A damage estimate was not immediately available.
Aalbers said the home did not have working smoke alarms.
"Just want to remind people about the importance of having working smoke alarms, and when they discover fire to get out of the house as soon as possible."
Members of the Sarnia Police Service and Lambton EMS also responded.
