Chychrun To Miss U-17 Tournament

Hockey Canada announced Sunday that Sarnia Sting defenceman Jakob Chychrun will not play for Canada White at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge due to an injury.

Chychrun will remain with the team for the duration of the tournament.

“It’s extremely disappointing to not be able to participate this year,” says Chychrun. “Last year was an amazing experience in Cape Breton, and I was looking forward to representing Canada again in front of my home fans in Sarnia. Despite not being able to be on the ice, I’m excited to remain with the team and be a part of what should be a fantastic tournament.”

No replacement for Chychrun will be named.

Hockey Canada did not provide specifics on the nature of the injury.
