Man Possibly Armed With Knife Sought

City police are looking for a man possibly armed with a large knife who was seen Thursday morning at Sarnia Public Library.

Police say the man was initially inside the library and was asked to leave because of his disturbing behaviour.

Several officers responded at 10:35am but the suspect could not be found. He was seen walking south on Christina St., then east onto Wellington St. and was last seen running northbound on Victoria St.

He's described as being in his late teens or early twenties, 5' 2" to 5' 4," with dark brown, shaggy but not long hair. Police say he was wearing a white toque with a blue stripe with a large blue pompom on the top of it, and a green and black checkered lumberjack style shirt/jacket and blue jeans. He also had a forest green backpack and large orange or red headphones.

Police are looking for the public's help in identifying the man and ask any witnesses to come forward.

Police say the suspect should not be approached and anyone who observes him should call 911. Anyone with information is asked to contact city police at 519-344-8861 or Crime Stoppers at 519-332-TIPS.
