Brent Poland's Mother Lays First Wreath

Corporal Brent Poland's mother laid the first wreath at Tuesday's well attended Remembrance Day service at Sarnia's Veteran's Park in honour of her son and all those killed and wounded in the line of duty.

The 37-year-old Poland was killed in Afghanistan in 2007.

Brent's brother Mark says the family is still dealing with the loss.

21-year-old Private William Cushley of Port Lambton was killed in Afghanstan in 2006.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
