Winter Emergency Kits Recommended By OPP

It's still fall but the winter driving season is upon us.

OPP urges residents to make sure they have the necessary safety equipment in their vehicles.

Sergeant Dave Rektor recommends putting together a kit including extra clothing, food, a candle with waterproof matches, and a fully charged cell phone for emergencies.

Sergeant Rektor again appeals to motorists to adjust to changing weather conditions and slow down.

He says there's been upwards of 400 crashes western region alone the past few days.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
