Sting Acquire Overage Centre

The Sarnia Sting has filled its vacant overage spot by acquiring 4th year centre Stephen Pierog from the Guelph Storm. In return, Guelph gets the Sting's 3rd round pick in 2017 (originally Windsor's) and a 10th round pick in 2017.

Pierog helped the Storm capture the OHL championship and a spot in the Memorial Cup last season.

“Stephen is a versatile and highly competitive player capable of playing in all situations, and will bring leadership and experience to our hockey club. We feel that our younger players will benefit from having a proven winner, like Stephen, in our lineup," says Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair. "His addition will immediately upgrade our depth at the forward position, and his experience of playing in the Memorial Cup last season will be of great value to our group, both on and off the ice.”

Pierog Played three seasons with the Peterborough Petes after being drafted 207th overall in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection. In the 2012-13 season with the Petes, the’94-born centreman tied for most goals (19) and finished second in assists (16) for a career-high 35 points.

He's expected to make his Sting debut Friday night against Erie.
