Festive R.I.D.E Campaign Gets Underway

The Ontario Provincial Police is kicking off its Festive R.I.D.E. campaign today.

OPP is teaming up with local police in London, Aylmer, St. Thomas, Strathroy-Caradoc and Woodstock.

Sergeant Dave Rektor says OPP Drug Recognition Experts will be at R.I.D.E. checkpoints throughout the campaign.

Rektor says they have seen a decrease in impaired drivers, but one drunk driver is one too many.

The campaign runs through the holiday season.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
