Research Park Lands New Tenant

Sarnia-Lambton's Western Research Park has landed a bio medical research tenant.

Western Phytoceutica develops evidence-based, high quality, value-added natural health products from plant sources. The company is leasing 1,000 sq ft of lab space and another 500 sq ft for a pilot plant. The five year lease began at the start of November, operations will get underway January 1, 2015.

Founder Edmund Lui says they're testing American ginseng in hopes of treating a number of conditions including heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.

Lui says after the research and development stage, he's hopeful for the potential of commercialization.

The Western Research Park, on Modeland Rd., is now operating at 97 per cent occupancy.
