Giving Tuesday Launched

Giving Tuesday in Sarnia-Lambton was officially launched at Lambton College over the noon hour Tuesday.

Local dignitaries were joined by representatives of the 26 local charities which will share donations from the initiative.

College President and CEO Judith Morris told the crowd the college was proud to be part of the new movement to celebrate philanthropy.

To participate, text "SLGIVES" to 20222 and make a donation. The amount will be added to your monthly phone bill.

You can also donate online at sarnialambtongives.ca.

Donations will be accepted until December 31.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
