New Councillors Eager To Get To Work

Sarnia's first-time councillors are eager to get to work.

Cindy Scholten, Matt Mitro and Brian White will get right down to business next week, tackling a troublesome 2015 draft budget.

White says he's done his best to familiarize himself with the financial plan.

A 4.4 per cent operating budget increase is projected by the city next year.

Deliberations are set for December 9.

Sarnia's eight councillors and Mayor Mike Bradley were officially sworn into office late Monday morning.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
