DeAngelo Signs With Lightning

Tuesday was quite a day for Sarnia Sting defenseman Anthony DeAngelo.

After being named earlier in the day to Team USA's preliminary roster for the upcoming World Jr. Hockey Championship, the 19-year-old from Sewell, New Jersey signed his first NHL contract.

Tampa Bay Lightning Vice-President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced Tuesday night the signing of DeAngelo to a three year, entry level deal.

DeAngelo has 27 points in 22 games with the Sting this season and leads all OHL defensemen in scoring.

The 5 ft 11 in, 177 lb, smooth skating rearguard, also led the OHL in scoring by defensemen last season with 71 points in 51 games.

DeAngelo was selected in the first round, 19th overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia.
