Jim Foubister Named Citizen Of The Month

A long-time former city and county councillor is being recognized for his involvement in various community initiatives.

Todd Case presented Jim Foubister with the Warden's Citizen of the Month award for November at the Huron House Boys' Home on Lakeshore Rd. in Sarnia this morning.

Case says he wanted to thank him publicly.  He says Foubister is a local role model who has earned the highest degree of respect from his peers and those who he serves.

The 80-year-old has been involved in minor and old-timers hockey, the Sarnia Highland Games, the Sunshine Foundation of Canada, the Inn of the Good Shepherd, Huron House Boys' Home and the local Circles program.

Foubister was first elected to the Town of Clearwater Council in 1988 and served on the committee to amalgamate Clearwater and Sarnia.

He was defeated in the October 27 election.

The Warden's Citizen of the Month award recognizes residents and organizations in Lambton who are known for their positive contributions.
