Golden Hawk Makes Safe Return (Gallery)

The Sarnia F-86 Sabre Golden Hawk is back in Germain Park, but not on its pedestal yet.

With the help of a Sarnia police escort, it took over an hour to make the short trip from Confederation Line and Brigden Rd., to Germain Park Monday morning.

Project Coordinator Mark Seibutis led a group of aeronautic enthusiasts who, with the help of many restored the Sarnia landmark that paid tribute to the airmen who fought and died in the Battle of Britain.

Seibutis says they will reattach the wings and complete some final finishing touches over the next few days, with hopes of having the plane back on its perch in Germain Park on Wednesday.

They plan to have a special rededication ceremony in the spring.
