Sarnia City Council will be updated on the physical condition of the downtown public library Monday.

Mayor Mike Bradley says the report outlines four phases of upgrade work spanning a decade.

Mayor Bradley says the first two phases include projects to enhance accessibility, totalling just over $3.3-million.

The County of Lambton operates the two-storey city-owned facility and has committed funding to upgrade the theatre.

Bradley says he would also like to see a public advisory board reestablished, to bring recommendations to city council on a regular basis.
