Local Veteran Receives Special Honour

He was only 14-years-old when he enlisted, but he went on to play a pivotal role in the liberation of France in the Second World War.

Petrolia resident Sid McLean was presented with the French Legion of Honour Medal Tuesday night.

Gene Smith of the First Hussars Regimental Association says it's a fitting recognition for the anti-tank gunner, who help saved the lives hundreds of Canadian soldiers.
