Pt. Edward Casino Privatization Process Continues

It's going to be some time yet before the Point Edward Casino is privatized.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation began its privatization process in the spring of 2012.

OLG spokesman Tony Bitonti says they don't expect to name operators for casinos in eastern Ontario until the middle of the new year.

Once that's underway, he says they'll issue "requests for proposals" for casinos in the western bundle which includes Point Edward.

The plan would see the private sector take over day-to-day operation of casinos but the government would still have strict control over gaming policy.
