Legionnaires Secure Dramatic OT Win

The Sarnia Legionnaires (22-8-0) defeated the St. Thomas Stars (12-15-3) in dramatic fashion Thursday night, a come from behind 3-2 win in overtime.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first on goals from Sarnia's PJ Vandervaart (his first of the season) and St. Thomas' Jesse Anderson. The Stars pulled ahead 2-1 in the second on a powerplay goal by Jordan Babb.

Cody Trowell scored with just two seconds left in the third period to force overtime and Davis Boyer netted the OT winner.

Legionnaires goalie Cornel Felder made 30 saves while Dan Black turned aside 31 of 34 Sarnia shots. St. Thomas scored once on seven powerplay chances while the Legionnaires were held scoreless on three chances.

The Legionnaires are in Forest to take on the Lambton Shores Predators on Saturday night on CHOK.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
