Reduce The Risk Of Fire This Christmas

Sarnia Fire and Rescue is offering a few safety tips for residents over the Christmas holidays.

Public Education Officer Roel Bus says this time of year often sees an increase in the number of house fires.

Bus says real Christmas Trees require some extra care and need to be watered daily.

Residents are reminded to turn off all tree and display lights before retiring for the night.

Bus says last year in the month of December there were 64 fire related injuries and 14 fatalities in Ontario.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
