2014 Mayors Honour Lists Unveiled

Twenty individuals and groups will be formally recognized for outstanding community contributions.

Established by the late Marceil Saddy in 1981 the Mayor's Honour List for 2014 has been released today.

The 2014 list includes volunteers Mike Blondin, Susan Chamberlain, Bryan Chappell, Pam Chin, Carman Lamb, Mary Jo Mather, Emma McCann, Molly McKinlay and Patricia McLean.

Ken Machan and Ken Stothers are recognized as co-chairs of the Kenwick on the Lake Park Project Committee.

Sarnia dentist Larry Soden and volunteer Don Van Goozen are other honourees.

St.Clair Secondary student Rebekah Pede, who has been nominated for the Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Award, is named.

Fred and Dorothy Moss are recognized for their desire to travel across the globe to teach people about Canada and Sarnia.

Dr.Ken Walker and Mrs. Deb Walker, who have promoted and organized the Bluewater Triathlon for the past 20 years, are also named to this year's list.

Organizations being honoured include the Bluewater Health Hospital Auxiliary, Lambton County Music Festival and the Sarnia Centennial Celebration Committee.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
