Update: Highway Reopened

A messy morning for motorists on area highways and roads, including a full closure of the westbound 401 at the 402 split due to a collision.

The highway was closed to traffic for about three hours. No word on injuries.

The MTO describes Highways 40 and 402 this morning as snow covered and snow packed and icy with drifted on sections.

Constable Todd Monaghan says the blast of winter weather made for a busy weekend for Lambton OPP.

Officers responded to 29 calls Sunday night alone, 21 of those were collisions.

Motorists are advised to adjust their driving to the changing winter conditions.
