Former Sarnia Fire Chief Convicted

Sarnia's former fire chief has been convicted of 26 sexual assault related charges involving a young female.

Pat Cayen was found guilty in Sarnia court Friday afternoon.

Some of the victims looked on, clearly emotional, as Cayen was found guilty of 26 of 28 charges.

Justice John Desotti read the decision in Sarnia's Superior Court and then set a sentencing date of April 24.

The 56-year-old Cayen was initially charged in November 2012.

A publication ban prohibits disclosure of time frame, location of the offences as well as the identity of the victims.

Cayen's employment with the Sarnia fire department was terminated in January 2013.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
