Improper Disposal Of Ashes Blamed For Fire

The Plympton-Wyoming Fire Department has determined a house fire last Thursday was caused by ashes from a wood stove.

Firefighters were called to a home on Minielly Rd., just east of Oil Heritage Rd., around 11:30am Jan 8.

Chief Mike Vasey says their investigation of the four alarm blaze has concluded.

No one was injured in the fire.

The home reportedly belongs to the founder of Sarnia's Abbott Boats Bill Abbott.

Abbott Boats in Sarnia was destroyed by fire in 2006.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
