Bayside Centre Garage Repairs Anticipated Soon

Delayed repairs to the underground parking structure at Sarnia's Bayside Centre downtown will get underway soon.

A $500,000 building permit has been issued for expansion joint repairs.

Mayor Mike Bradley says the mall's receiver will be on the hook for the bill.

Labour Ministry orders issued in August 2012 and revised a year later called for restricted use of the mall's street level parking lot, installation of temporary shoring, monthly inspections and a repair strategy.

Repairs were supposed to start no later than June of last year and be complete by August this year.

Council was told at the time that the parking structure remained safe.
