Rookie Councillor Appointed To Police Board

A rookie City Councillor is the newest member of Sarnia's Police Services Board.

Matt Mitro, who was critical of the latest contract and the $21-million dollar police budget, says he's looking forward to learning.

For the first time ever, city council members were appointed to boards and committees in the public portion of Monday's meeting.

Citizen appointments made in closed session will be made public at Sarnia Council's next meeting.

The police board meets Thursday to select its chair and vice chair.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
