Legionnaires Down Nationals 7-5

The Sarnia Legionnaires defeated the London Nationals 7-5 Thursday night in GOJHL play.

Jordan Fogarty led the way for the Legionnaires with a pair of goals, Ryan Vendramin and Riley Babkirk both tallied three points.

Sarnia led 3-2 after the first period, Hunter Tyczynski scored his first goal of the season in just his seventh game back from injury. Fogarty scored twice in the second frame to put the Legionnaires ahead 5-3 after two. The teams traded two goals apiece in the third.

Goalie Andrew Masters picked up his first win as a Legionnaire, stopping 38 of 43 shots. Sarnia scored three times on five powerplay chances while only giving up one goal on six times shorthanded.

Kevin Madden, Rai Di Loreto, and Austin Kemp led the way for the Nationals with two points each.

Sarnia remains second in the Western Conference with 53 points, 11 back of Leamington and three up on Chatham.

The Legionnaires return to action Sunday in Leamington at 4:10pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
