Taxi Fare Hike Recommended

The Police Services Board is recommending taxi fares go up in keeping with the Consumer Price Index.

Flag drops, kilometre and wait time charges will go up 9.6 per cent if approved by city council.

Cab companies approached the board last year for an increase to offset rising insurance, gas and maintenance costs.

Tying increases to the CPI would allow for yearly adjustments.

The last increase for rates was in 2008.
