Possible Job Cuts At Bluewater Health

Staff at Bluewater Health will know more today as the hospital outlines its plan to deal with a projected $6-million shortfall in fiscal 2015-2016.

The hospital's board of directors approved the plan during a meeting Wednesday night.

The hospital had previously indicated it was looking at reshaping services as it anticipates $3-million less in funding, and an added $3-million in inflationary costs over the next fiscal year.

Of the anticipated cuts, $1.9-million is expected to come from wages and benefits, but theres no clear detail into exactly where those cuts will come from.

All staff have been called to a meeting today at noon, after which media will be briefed.

33 staff members are expected to be affected by the cuts, but that doesn't necessarily mean involuntary job loss.

Only minor changes are anticipated at Petrolia's CEE Hospital, after it was announced late last year that endoscopy services will be consolidated in Sarnia.
