Prescription Drug Abuse Growing In Sarnia

Local medical professionals are urged to be vigilant in curbing prescription drug abuse in the community.

In October, a Sarnia man was given scripts for quantities of fentanyl and hydromorphone with a street value of $22,000.

He was arrested for trafficking the next day after the search of a Richard St. residence.

Sarnia Police Constable John Sottosanti urges health care workers to carefully monitor their patients.

He says the city should follow a model in place in other cities where you have to return the packaging and backing to fentanyl patches to get new ones.

A local pharmacy worker was arrested in a drug bust this past week.
