UPDATE: Snow Squall Warning Ends

Environment Canada has ended a snow squall warning for Sarnia-Lambton.

The warning was issued early Thursday for traditional snow belt areas southeast of the lake including north and east Lambton County.

The weather radar was showing narrow, but intense bands of snow causing poor visibility and whiteout conditions at times in east Lambton and around Forest.

The Lambton OPP closed much of Hwy. 402 Thursday afternoon due to snow and blowing snow and motor vehicle collisions including an 11-vehicle crash that occurred in the westbound lanes east of Nauvoo Rd. Air ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

Hwy. 402 was closed westbound from Forest Rd. to Hwy. 401 and eastbound from Forest Rd. to Hickory Dr.

Police were advising motorists not to venture into the affected areas until conditions improve.

Snow accumulations of 10 cm to 15 cm or more were expected in the heaviest snow squalls.

Only about 2 cm was expected in flurries around Sarnia and west Lambton County.
