Hydro Upgrades To Begin This Year

Oil Springs residents will see relief from frequent power outages sooner than initially thought.

Hydro One will begin fixing problematic line circuits this year, with the aging Wanstead Power Station to be replaced by 2019.

Sarnia-Lambton Conservative MPP Bob Bailey says there have been 126 power interruptions that can be attributed to the old equipment.

Bailey says his 1,000 signature petition, and Hydro One Chair Sandra Pupatello have helped speed up the process.

He adds upgrades to the Wanstead station could cost upwards of $5-million, and over $30-million total when all is said and done.

The costs are to be borne by the Bluewater Power and Hydro One utilities.
