Hockey Association Supports Direction For Arenas

The Chair of the Sarnia Hockey Association says he's satisfied with information provided in a series of public meetings on the city's Arena Management Strategy.

Mike Johnson says Montieth Brown Consultants did a thorough job researching and presenting a plan.

He believes winter sports could survive with the proposed closure of Germain Arena at a yearly savings of $118,000.

Consultants also say at least $1-million will have to be spent each year for the next 10 years to upgrade the city's five remaining rinks.

Sarnia council will review a final report and make decisions in six to eight weeks.
