Province Providing Additional Addiction Funding

The provincial government has announced it's investing $28-million in mental health and addiction services.

Each of the 14 Local Health Integration Networks will allocate an additional $2-million for 2014-2015.

Erie-St. Clair LHIN spokesperson Julie Franchuk says exactly where the money will go is still to be determined.

In a news release today, the province says the next phase of its strategy includes $138-million over three years.

A detox centre is included in development plans for the old Sarnia General Hospital site.

Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley is hopeful.

Plans call for a 10,000 sq ft addition to the former health unit building on George St. to house an around-the-clock Bluewater Health residential withdrawal management facility.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
