Latest Extreme Cold Warning Ends

There still will be bitter wind chills tonight and tomorrow but Environment Canada's latest extreme cold warning has ended.

The warnings are based on wind chill values of at least -30 C.

There were new record low temperatures set in nine communities early this morning including Windsor, Ridgetown and Kitchener.

Sarnia came very close to another new record low. The temperature at Chris Hadfield Airport dropped to -21.3 C, just short of the record for the date of -21.9 C set in 2003.

The month of February is expected to go in the books as the coldest ever in many centres including Sarnia.
