Sarnia

Mixed Precipitation Expected Tuesday

It's considerably milder out after a frigid month of February but we're being told to expect mixed precipitation Tuesday.

Environment Canada has a special weather statement in effect for much of southern Ontario including Sarnia-Lambton, Chatham-Kent, London-Middlesex and Huron-Perth.

A low pressure system is tracking this way from the American plains.

In extreme southwestern Ontario, east towards the Niagara Peninsula, precipitation will begin as snow or ice pellets then transition through a period of freezing rain to straight rain as temperatures rise above zero.

Freezing rain could persist for a few hours.

Areas further north will get mainly snow with accumulations ranging from 5 cm to 10 cm. (2 - 4 in)

Environment Canada is monitoring the track of the storm system and will issue further statements and warnings as warranted.
