College Makes Health Centre Funding Pitch

Lambton College is pushing forward with plans to build a Health Education and Sustainable Care Centre on campus.

College officials formally asked county council for $5-million over six years Wednesday.

With a quarter of the college's students enrolled in health education, President and CEO Judith Morris says there's a need for new facilities.

They've also asked the federal and provincial governments for $10-million each.

Morris says she hopes to hear back from the upper tiers in April.

Morris says off-campus options like the Bayside Centre or the old Sarnia General Hospital are not cost effective.

Lambton County Council will make a decision on the grant request at budget deliberations March 18.
