Gubbels Prelim Set For London

Preliminary hearing dates have been set for a London man charged with murder in the deaths of his Warwick Township parents.

The hearing will take place in London.

Application was approved to move Jeremy Gubbels preliminary hearing to London and 13 dates have now been set in June and July beginning June 1.

The 27-year-old Gubbels is remanded in custody until March 17, when he's to appear again by video in Sarnia to determine which courtroom in London will be used.

A preliminary hearing determines whether there's sufficient evidence to send the matter to trial.

There could be an application to move the trial as well.

Gubbels is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of his parents.

He was arrested July 13 of last year after the body of his father, 54-year-old Mario Gubbels was found in London. Earlier that night, the body of his mother, 55-year-old Susan Gubbels had been found in her home in the 5800-block of Arkona Rd.
