Removal Of Ice Huts Ordered

Anglers with ice-fishing huts set up along the St. Clair River, Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie must remove them by Sunday, March 15.

The Ministry of Natural Resources says getting them off the ice before it breaks up protects the environment and ensures safety.

The ministry discourages anglers from abandoning their huts which can end up in waterways and wash up on shorelines when the ice thaws.

It is an offence under the Public Lands Act to leave an ice hut after ice break up.
