Drugs Seized in St. Patrick's Day RIDE Check

Lambton OPP seized marijuana, cocaine and a prohibited weapon during a traffic stop Tuesday night in Point Edward.

Sergeant Dave Rektor says officers set up a St. Patrick's Day R.I.D.E checkpoint on Venetian Blvd. and detected an odour of suspected marijuana from inside the vehicle.

Rektor says officers seized three baggies of suspected cannabis marijuana, 15 baggies of suspected powdered cocaine and a prohibited weapon during their investigation.

A 32-year-old Sarnia man and a 25-year-old man from Pt. Edward both face drug trafficking charges.

The pair is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court May 6 to answer to the charges.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
