Spring's Arrival Ends Long, Cold Winter

Spring officially arrives Friday. The vernal equinox occurs at 6:45pm EDT March 20, marking the start of the spring season.

After another long, cold winter, Environment Canada climatologist David Phillips says we'll have to be patient waiting for things to warm up. He reminds us February was the coldest month ever in Sarnia-Lambton and the air will not warm up until all the snow melts and the ground thaws. Phillips says April will likely be cooler than normal but long term forecasts suggest this summer will be warmer than last year.
