Legionnaires Lose In OT, Trail Series 3-2

The Sarnia Legionnaires dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 overtime decision at the hands of the LaSalle Vipers in GOJHL playoff action Thursday night. With the victory, the Vipers lead the best of seven second round series 3-2.

Both teams scored a goal each in every frame. Cody Trowell made it 3-2 Legionnaires with 1:15 left in the third period, but LaSalle's Korey Morgan scored with three seconds remaining to send the game to OT.

Brett Primeau scored the game winner for the Vipers on the power play just 3:09 into the extra period. It was his second of the contest. Sarnia defenceman Kyler Keating was handed a questionable penalty for a head check which led to the goal.

Ryan Trottier led the way for Sarnia with a pair of goals, while Cody Trowell picked up a goal and two helpers.

Sarnia went two for six on the power play while the Vipers capitalized on two of seven chances. Legionnaires goalie Andrew Masters was busy, making 44 saves. LaSalle goalie Paolo Battisti stopped 19 of 22 Sarnia shots.

Game six is scheduled for Saturday night in LaSalle. If there's a game seven, it will be Sunday night in Sarnia.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
