DeGroot Selected To Carry Pan Am Torch

Sarnia's John DeGroot has been selected to carry the Pan Am torch through the city June 16.

The winner of this year's Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award, in a statement, says it's nice to be able to bring part of the Pan Am excitement to Sarnia.

DeGroot was chosen by the chamber through the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

The torch relay starts a 41-day journey through 130 communities May 30, ending in Toronto July 10.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
