2015 Budget Set For Point Edward

Point Edward council has set a $5.6-million budget, representing an increase of just over one per cent from last year.

Chief Administrative Officer Jim Burns says some small tweaks helped bring the proposed rate hike of two per cent down to 1.17 per cent.

He says overall it was a relatively smooth process for council.

Burns says new street lights have helped decrease energy costs and improve overall efficiency.

Taxes on the municipal portion of the property tax bill go up $8 per $110,000 of assessment.

The budget includes capital spending of $1.5-million.
