College Hosts 23rd Annual Pow Wow (Gallery)

There was a vibrant display of native culture at Lambton College Thursday.

The campus hosted its 23rd annual Pow Wow in the gym.

The celebration featured dancers in full regalia competing in traditional, jingle and grass dances.

Marie Short, an elder from Walpole Island, was impressed by the turnout and thinks it will have a lasting impact on the students.

Short says the spring gathering has refilled their spiritually after such a long winter.

Spectators were entertained by the drumming and singing but also had a chance to purchase native art, crafts, food and jewellery.

The college's aboriginal student council helped organize the Pow Wow.
