Plans for Pt Edward Hotel Proceeding

Construction of a new Hampton Hotel in Pt. Edward is expected to get underway in late April after the company submitted a permit application to the village on Monday.

The 95 room hotel will be located at the former Sea Shell Restaurant on Venetian Blvd.

Pt. Edward CAO Jim Burns says the application will be reviewed by Lambton County's Building Department. He says the hotel will improve employment and tourism in the area.

He says during Silver Stick hockey tournaments, for example, visitors will be able to stay in the community, instead of having to book a hotel across the border or as far as London.

It's expected to take about a year to build. No cost estimate has been provided.
