Playfair Music Fire Deemed Accidental

Sarnia Fire and Rescue Service says a blaze that destroyed Playfair Music Monday morning was electrical in nature.

An investigation has revealed the fire was accidental and started in a light switch in the front room of the building.

Fire Prevention Officer Roel Bus says they suspect it was caused by arcing wires.

Damage is estimated at $500,000.

The Mitton St. complex offered a fully equipped recording studio and rehearsal rooms, music equipment repair, a retail store as well as music lessons, band camps and recital concerts.

A fundraiser was launched earlier this week to help owner Steve Dumont temporarily cover costs with insurance claims pending.

The fundraiser page can be found by clicking here. Over $2,100 has been raised so far.
